Introduction
The American Industries Trade Scholarship provides up to $12,000 in education support paid over a two-year period to help young people who have experienced foster care cover the costs of trade or vocational training. In addition to financial assistance, the scholarship is intended to be a source of personal, emotional, and social support as recipients build careers in the skilled trades. Who can apply (Eligibility)
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Provide documentation verifying foster care status.
- Be 17 to 25 years old at the time of application.
- Be a United States citizen.
- Have completed a high school diploma or GED.
- Intend to enroll in an accredited vocational-technical program, trade school, or a two-year college.

Approved fields of study (eligible trades)
Applicants must be pursuing training in one of these areas:
- Plumbing
- Electrician
- HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)
- Welding
- Masonry
- Appliance Repair
- Tool Manufacturing
- Auto Repair & Manufacturing
- Airplane Repair & Manufacturing
- Industrial Mechanical Systems
- Diesel Technology
- Machine Operator
- Metal Coating and Molding
- Construction Management
- Elevator Technician
- Carpentry
- Culinary Arts
- Agriculture & Horticulture
- Dental Technician
- Veterinarian Technician
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- Radiology Technician

Application process
Step 1 — Collect required documents
Before starting your application, assemble these items:
- High school transcripts
- Trade school or college transcripts (if already attended)
- Proof of foster care status
- Personal statement essay (essay prompt available in the portal)
- Professional headshot photograph
- Acceptance letters from your trade school or college

Step 2 — Submit the online application
Fill out the application and upload your verification documents through the Scholarship Portal.

Step 3 — Watch your email and ask for help if needed
You will receive follow-up messages from the Foster Love scholarship team about your application status. If you have questions, use the Contact Us button in the portal to schedule a call with the scholarship team. Responses to inquiries will be provided within 2 business days.
