Christopher King Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Cobb Community Foundation
Introduction
Chris King served as a percussionist with the Lassiter High School (LHS) Band from 2011 to 2015. He passed away in April 2016. Chris treasured his time in the band and the friendships he formed there. Friends remember him as kind, helpful, accepting, never demeaning others, someone who reached out to underclassmen and who knew how to protect and distract classmates who felt embarrassed.
Purpose of the Scholarship
In memory of Christopher, his parents created the Chris King Memorial Scholarship to honor students who model the qualities he valued. This award is not based on academic record or musical ability; instead, selection focuses solely on character. Nominees should reflect Chris’s most important traits—kindness, helpfulness, inclusiveness, support for younger students, and a calming, protective presence for peers.
Who is Eligible
- Nominees must be juniors or seniors in the LHS Band or Color Guard.
- Nominations must be submitted using the online nomination form.
