Lexington County Farm Bureau Scholarship Program — Overview
The Lexington County Farm Bureau awards three scholarships of $1,500 each to Lexington County students who are entering college and intend to pursue an undergraduate degree in agriculture or an agriculture-related field. These awards are intended to support students committed to careers in agriculture and related industries.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be a current Farm Bureau member and provide their member number.
- Be a resident of Lexington County.
- Be properly enrolled (or enrolling) in an undergraduate agriculture or agriculture-related program at a two- or four-year college, university, or technical school.
- Have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA (an official transcript must accompany the application).
- Not have previously received $6,000 or more in cumulative scholarship funds from the Lexington County Farm Bureau scholarship program.
Application Materials and Requirements
Applicants must submit the following items by the application deadline:
1. Official Lexington County Farm Bureau Application Form.
- Forms must be typed or completed online and printed.
- The application must include high school and/or college education information, academic honors, school and community activities, work experience, career goals, employment history, extracurricular honors, memberships, offices held, and any additional information the selection committee may find relevant.
- If the official form is retyped, it must be submitted on the same number of pages as the original and must include every question in full. Font size must be at least 12 points and margins must be at least one-half inch on all sides.
- The Lexington County Farm Bureau Board of Directors may amend or add to application guidelines. All submitted applications become the property of the Lexington County Farm Bureau.
2. A copy of the most recent high school transcript showing grades, SAT scores (if applicable), GPA, and class rank.
3. A one-page, typed, double-spaced essay answering: “Where do you want to be ten years from now and how do you plan to be able to impact agriculture?” (limit one page).
4. Three (3) letters of recommendation. Recommendations from family members will not be accepted.

Selection Process
Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Lexington County Farm Bureau Scholarship Committee based on character, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to agriculture or agriculture-related fields. Only applicants who meet the eligibility criteria and submit all required documents will be considered for a $1,500 award. The Committee’s decisions are final.
Award Distribution
Winners will be announced at the Lexington County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting each August. Scholarship funds will be applied to the recipient’s chosen school, disbursed in two installments: one-half at the start of the fall semester and the remainder at the start of the spring semester. Scholarship checks will be made payable jointly to the recipient and the college, university, or institution of higher learning.
