Idaho Turn Around Scholarship Fund

Introduction The Turn Around Scholarship Fund exists to support graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated the ability to overcome significant challenges and turn their lives around. Awards are made possible by the generosity of community supporters. Community Supporters This scholarship is funded by contributions from: Gladys E. Langroise Fund, Les Bois Kiwanis Club, Boise Sunrise Rotary Club, Heritage United, Joe’s Kids, Idaho Power, Meridian School District Counselors, Idaho Mountain Touring and individual donors. Selection Criteria Recipients are chosen based on the following factors: - Cumulative GPA - The applicant’s personal letter (as described below) - A letter of recommendation from a school counselor, principal, teacher, or coach Nomination rule: School counselors or principals may nominate up to two students from their high school for consideration. Students are not permitted to nominate themselves; the nomination must come from a counselor or principal. Eligibility To be considered, applicants must: - Be a graduating senior from a public high school within the West Ada School District or the Boise Independent School District - Submit a completed application Award Amount and Distribution - Scholarship amounts depend on available funds; the number and size of awards may change each year. - Payments will be made directly to the recipient’s accredited institution of higher education upon verification of enrollment; funds are not paid directly to recipients. - Awards will be disbursed split between the spring and fall semesters/terms. Application Requirements and Deadline To apply, submit the following: - A completed application form - A one- to two-page, typed personal letter (12-point font) describing how you have turned your life around and what obstacles you have overcome - One letter of recommendation from a teacher, principal, school counselor, or coach - A copy of your most recent high school transcript (Ensure all materials are submitted by the scholarship deadline indicated on the application.)
