Lithuanian Foundation Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Lithuanian Foundation
The Lithuanian Foundation is committed to fostering leadership skills in students who actively participate in their communities. The Foundation focuses its resources on students who have shown a commitment to volunteerism within the Lithuanian community or the broader community. The Foundation's mission is to ensure the preservation and continuity of Lithuanian culture and traditions by investing in the development of future leaders within the Lithuanian community.
Allocation of Funds
As a diaspora organization, the Lithuanian Foundation prioritizes students studying outside Lithuania, particularly those who are members of the Lithuanian Foundation, Inc.
Selection of scholarship recipients will be based on academic achievement, leadership potential, demonstrated community involvement, and particularly, participation in Lithuanian community activities.
Per the LF Grants Commission guidelines, the Lithuanian Foundation provides support exclusively to full-time students of Lithuanian heritage pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees, with the following priorities:
- US citizens and US permanent residents (“green card” holders) pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees.
- Lithuanian students pursuing Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Lithuania;
- Lithuanian students pursuing a Master’s, or Doctoral degree in the US (with a student visa) or in other foreign countries;
- Exceptionally, Lithuanian students seeking a Bachelor’s degree in Lithuania who meet donor-directed fund designations.
LF members have created donor-directed funds to support various fields of study, and in some instances, specific areas of study within Lithuania. Information about these donor-directed funds and their supported areas can be found here (no need to apply for any of the specific donor-directed funds). Applications from students studying or conducting research in Lithuanian linguistics, literature, folklore, or history are given special consideration.
The Lithuanian Foundation offers scholarships (up to $7,500) for one academic year at a time. Applicants must submit applications each academic year of their degree program.
Limitations
The Foundation will not entertain scholarship applications if:
- The student is not of Lithuanian heritage;
- The applicant is enrolled in a part-time study program.
- The student is enrolled in an associate or certificate program.
- The student has not yet been accepted by an accredited college, university, or other academic institution;
- The applicant does not hold citizenship or the necessary visa for the country where they intend to study;
- The student from Lithuania is enrolled in a Bachelor‘s degree program in the US (with a student visa) or another foreign country.

Application Process
The Foundation utilizes an electronic application process that requires all supplementary documentation to be attached to the application before submission. Supplementary documentation can be in Lithuanian or English. Documents in other languages must be translated. It is preferred, but not mandatory, to complete the application form in Lithuanian.
To finalize the application, applicants must click “submit”. If any required documentation is missing, the submission will not be processed. Applicants are therefore advised to start gathering required documentation as early as possible. If technical issues prevent the attachment of a document, the Foundation must be notified by email at admin@lithfund.org by September 28, 2025, to request an exception. Without an exception letter from the Foundation office, the application will be deemed late and will not be considered.
