Introduction
The Idaho State Broadcasters Association (ISBA), established in 1950, exists to advance the interests of broadcasters across Idaho. One of ISBA’s core goals is the professional development of its members, and supporting students who plan to pursue broadcasting-related careers is an important part of that mission.
Scholarship Overview
Each year ISBA awards a minimum of three general academic scholarships of $1,000 each. These scholarships are intended for students enrolled at Idaho colleges and universities who are preparing for careers tied to broadcasting—examples include Business Administration, Sales, Journalism, and Engineering. Applications from a wide and diverse range of students are encouraged.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be enrolled full time at an Idaho college or university.
- Must have demonstrated strong potential in coursework or extracurricular activities related to broadcasting.
- Must be regarded positively and with respect by their peers.
- GPA requirement: at least 2.0 for students in their first two years of college; at least 2.5 for students in their final two years.
Required Materials (to be submitted as file uploads)
1. Completed application form (submit online).
2. Letter of recommendation from the General Manager of an ISBA member station.
3. Official transcripts.
4. A one-page essay describing why you are applying for the scholarship and outlining your career plans.
Submission Deadline and Process
All completed applications must arrive at the ISBA office by March 15. Applications submitted by fax will not be accepted. Scholarships are awarded for the academic year beginning in August/September each year.
Selection and Notification
The ISBA Board reviews applications and selects recipients at its spring quarter board meeting. Applicants will be informed of the outcome shortly after that meeting.
