Overview
The Elizabeth J. Davis Scholarship supports Vermonters pursuing degrees that prepare them to work in home care. It was created to help current home care workers advance their education and to assist students seeking associate’s or bachelor’s degrees in health-related fields who intend to enter Vermont home care after graduation.
Who may apply
- Residency: Applicants must be residents of Vermont.
- Career intention: Candidates must plan to work in home care in Vermont after finishing their program.
- Enrollment: Applicants must be enrolled in a certified college (the institution does not have to be located in Vermont).
- Eligible programs: Nursing (RN or LPN), physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, or medical social work.
Application steps and requirements
- Obtain an application from the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC).
- Two short essays are required as part of the application.
- There is no strict financial-need cutoff to apply, but financial circumstances are taken into account.
- Awards typically range from $1,000 to $3,000.
- Note: scholarships and forgivable loans are awarded competitively.

- Follow the timeline provided for application deadlines (see the timeline below).
- Complete the Unified Scholarship Application (USA) and submit all required supporting documents well before the February 11 submission/postmark deadline.
- Before sending materials, verify that every document includes your name and clearly identifies what the document is.
- After submitting, log into your MyVSAC account and click “Work with Scholarships & Forgivable Loans” to confirm VSAC has received all parts of your application.
