Stamps Scholars Program

The Stamps Scholarship is a prestigious award that recognizes the outstanding achievements of high school seniors. The scholarship seeks candidates who have shown remarkable academic prowess, made significant contributions to their school and community, and embody the characteristics of a responsible citizen and leader.
Applicants who opt for Early Decision will not receive their Stamps Scholarship award notification at the time of admission. The selection for the Stamps Scholarship will be finalized in early February.
Eligibility criteria include:
- Being a student currently enrolled in a secondary school, with an expectation to graduate and join the University of Connecticut in the fall semester of 2026
- Participation in leadership roles in school and/or community
- A proven dedication to community service
- Submission of standardized test scores is not mandatory for eligibility. However, applicants who choose to submit their scores should have a minimum combined SAT Score of 1420 or an ACT composite score of 32.
- Applicants should maintain a minimum GPA of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale and, if available, rank in the top 10% of their graduating class
The selection process will evaluate the following aspects:
- Academic performance (including class rank, if available; GPA; and optional standardized test scores)
- Recommendation letters
- Responses to short answer questions
- Leadership roles in school and community
- Interview (as determined by the Scholarship Selection Committee)
Document Requirements
Along with a completed admission application, applicants must include their full name and date of birth on all required documents, which consist of:
- Stamps Scholarship Supplemental Application: Once a student has completed the Common Application or Coalition Application, the Stamps Scholarship Supplemental Application will be accessible in the applicant portal. The Supplemental Application requires the following short-answer responses:
- Which community service are you most proud of and why? (100 words)
- The University of Connecticut is dedicated to fostering intellectual growth in every student and encouraging them to contribute to the state, national, and global communities. How do you plan to improve UConn and the world? (200 words)
- Stamps Scholars are distinguished students and impactful leaders. Why do you believe you fit this description? (100 words)
- Résumé: A comprehensive résumé highlighting activities, achievements, skills, and work experience should be uploaded in the Stamps Scholarship Supplemental Application.
- Letters of Recommendation: While not required for the admission process, two recommendation letters from a teacher, counselor, or administrator are necessary for the Stamps Scholarship. These letters can be sent through electronic services like Naviance, emailed to onestop@uconn.edu, faxed to (860) 486-1476, or mailed via post.
