Maine Nursing Student Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by American Nurses Association Maine

Value: $2,000
Awards Available: 2
Deadline : Sep 01, 2025

Understanding the Scholarship

  • ANA-Maine is delighted to offer two yearly scholarships for nursing education. The funds for these scholarships are generously provided by ANA-Maine members, individuals from the community, and various other benefactors.
  • Every year, during the Scholarship Soiree and Awards Presentation event in the fall, the recipients of these scholarships are recognized. One scholarship of $2,000 is granted to a student who is currently enrolled in an accredited pre-licensure registered nursing program. Another $2,000 scholarship is given to a registered nurse who is pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in nursing.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Those who are currently enrolled and matriculated in a Maine state-approved, accredited registered nursing program that leads to an associate degree, baccalaureate, masters, or doctoral degree in nursing are eligible.
  • Doctoral candidates studying in out-of-state programs can also apply, provided they have permanent residency in Maine.
  • Applicants must be enrolled at least half-time and have successfully completed 30 credits of the program curriculum.
  • Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be in good standing with their academic institution.
  • Applicants must be a member of ANA or an ANA-Student Subscriber.

Scholarship Award Timeline

The scholarship recipients are informed by September 1st each year and are invited to the Scholarship Soiree and Awards Presentation event where they will be acknowledged and presented with the award.

Selection Process

The student affairs committee chair, along with three other members, will evaluate each application using a specific rubric. The student affairs committee then conducts a blind review of the applications. The names of the awardees are announced to the ANA-Maine Board before the annual meeting in the fall.
