Volunteer for Vets Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Pontius Tax Law, PLLC
John Pontius, the founder of Pontius Tax Law, PLLC, is not only a seasoned attorney but also a proud U.S. Veteran. His military background includes serving in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps with the 1st Armored Division in Germany, followed by a deployment to Iraq. He also supervised the IRS-sponsored military Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program in Germany, where he led a team of eight and oversaw the quality control of over 2,000 federal and 700 state tax returns for military personnel. His firm is deeply committed to honoring and supporting those who have served our nation.
Given Attorney Pontius' strong connection to the military, he has decided to establish a scholarship specifically for Veterans or their children. Pontius Tax Law recognizes the immense debt our country owes to its Veterans and seeks to support them in tangible ways. We are interested in hearing from Veterans or their children about how we can better support them as a community. We also want to understand how being a Veteran or the child of a Veteran has influenced your life and perspectives. The scholarship, valued at $1,000, has a deadline of November 30, 2025. If you are a Veteran or a child of a Veteran, we encourage you to apply!
