The Georgia Mining Foundation (GMF) supports Georgia students through scholarships and endowments, distributing more than $40,000 each year to those entering colleges, technical colleges, and universities across the state. Beyond helping with tuition, GMF awards also connect recipients with the Georgia Mining Association (GMA) and its member companies, offering both financial support and industry exposure to help prepare tomorrow’s leaders in Georgia. 2026 Scholarship Opportunities Applications are being accepted now for the 2026 scholarship programs. Below are details, deadlines, award amounts, and eligibility requirements. GMF College Scholarships - Application deadline (postmark): February 27, 2026. - Awards: Multiple $500 scholarships for promising high school seniors from any Georgia county, plus six $1,000 scholarships each year. - Eligibility: - Accepted to, or awaiting admission to, an accredited college or university in Georgia. - Minimum SAT score of 960 or ACT score of 18. - Overall grade average of 85% or higher. - Completion of required high school coursework, including: - Four years of college-preparatory English, - Three years of history/social sciences, - At least five of the following math/science courses: Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry. - More information: download the 2026 GMF College Scholarship Information Packet. GMF Endowment for Education — Cliff Sheppard Endowment Scholarship - Application deadline (postmark): January 30, 2026. - Purpose: The Endowment raises funds to provide grants and scholarships for Georgia students. Unlike the regular GMF College Scholarships, the Endowment awards one student $1,000 per year for up to four years of college. - Additional benefits: Recipients receive ongoing contacts with GMA and its members during their studies, helping to foster a connection with the mining and minerals industry. - 2026 honor: The Endowment Scholarship for 2026 will be presented in recognition of Cliff Sheppard for his exceptional dedication to the mining and mineral industry. - Eligibility: - Accepted to and planning to attend one of the following institutions: Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Mercer University, Kennesaw State University, University of Georgia, or Georgia Southern University. - Minimum SAT score of 960 or ACT score of 18. - More information: download the 2026 Cliff Sheppard Endowment Scholarship Information Packet.
