Jefferson Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Jefferson Scholars Foundation
Introduction The Jefferson Scholars Foundation recruits exceptional undergraduates to the University of Virginia through two distinct scholarship tracks: the Jefferson Scholars Program and the Walentas Scholars Program. About the Scholarships Our mission is to prepare leaders, scholars, and civic-minded individuals who will contribute to both the University and the wider world. The Jefferson Scholars and Walentas Scholars programs support high-achieving undergraduates by funding their studies, nurturing their talents, and encouraging engagement with their communities. Recipients of either program gain access to robust financial aid, a variety of enrichment experiences, and the Foundation’s wide network of Scholars, Fellows, alumni, and volunteers. What the Awards Cover Both the Jefferson and Walentas Scholarships are designed to underwrite the full cost of attendance at UVA for four years and to fund supplemental enrichment activities. For students who are Virginia residents, the package exceeds $40,000 per year (more than $200,000 over four years). For non-Virginians, the support is in excess of $80,000 per year (over $365,000 total).
