Ohio CattleWomen Foundation Scholarships

Every year, the Ohio CattleWomen’s Association offers up to four scholarships, each worth $1,000, to exceptional college students. The selection is based on specific criteria outlined in the application. Applicants must submit the completed application form, which includes a photograph, recommendation letters, and academic transcript, by December 15.

A. Scholarship Awarding Process

1. The Ohio CattleWomen’s Association has the discretion to award the scholarships annually.
2. The scholarship program of the Ohio CattleWomen’s Association comprises up to four scholarships, each valued at $1,000.

B. Eligibility Criteria

1. The applicant should either be a child of a beef producer or directly involved in beef production or promotion.
2. The applicant or their parent must be a member of a local or state beef organization.
3. Both the applicant and their parents must be residents of Ohio.
4. The applicant must have been out of high school for at least one full year to be eligible for the OCW Scholarship.
5. Only those applicants who are in their second year or above in a four-year college program can apply. Preference will be given to those studying in an Ohio school.
6. An applicant can receive the OCW Scholarship a maximum of two times.
7. Both male and female applicants are welcome.
8. While the applicant’s major can be in any field, preference will be given to those majoring in agriculture, especially in areas related to beef.
9. The applicant must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

C. Application Procedure

1. Application forms can be requested from Connie O’Connell at (614) 264-0914, 4180 Millersburg Rd, Gambier, OH 43022 or downloaded from the CattleWomen’s website at www.ohiocattlewomen.com
2. The completed application form must be postmarked to Connie O’Connell at the above address by December 15.
3. The official current college transcript must also be postmarked to the same address by December 15.
4. Applicants can submit up to three current Letters of Recommendation from external sources for this scholarship to the above address. These letters may be used by the Scholarship Committee to evaluate the applicant if necessary and must be postmarked by December 15.
5. A photograph must be included with the scholarship application.
6. All documents (application, optional letters of recommendation, transcript, and photograph) must be sent together by the applicant to the above address.

D. Selection Procedure

1. The president of the Ohio CattleWomen’s Association will appoint the OCW Scholarship Committee.
2. The OCW Scholarship Committee will review all applications and may choose to interview applicants if necessary.
3. The scholarship recipients will be announced at the Ohio Cattlemen’s Annual Meeting in January.

E. Distribution Method

The Ohio CattleWomen’s Scholarship check will be issued in the name of the scholarship recipient and presented at the Ohio Cattlemen’s Annual Meeting in January.
