NALP Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by National Association of Landscape Professionals Foundation
Introduction
NALP Foundation awards scholarships to students enrolled in landscape contracting or horticulture programs at accredited two- or four-year post-secondary institutions in the United States and Canada. These scholarships are made possible by “Ambassadors” — supporters committed to investing in upcoming landscape professionals — and are presented each year at the National Collegiate Landscape Competition (NCLC).
Eligibility
- Must be actively enrolled in a two- or four-year landscape contracting or horticultural program at a post-secondary school in the US or Canada.
Required Application Materials
- Two letters of recommendation
- Current academic transcript
- Recent photograph
How to Strengthen Your Application
Provide clear, specific information in these areas to make your submission more competitive:
- Career goals and objectives: describe your professional aspirations and what drives you, including both career and educational aims.
- Involvement in NCLC and other professional activities: list conferences, competitions, events attended, awards, and skills you’ve acquired.
- Campus and community engagement: include volunteer work, school clubs, community service, workshops, and seminars.
- Leadership experience: note leadership positions, projects you initiated or led, and any mentorship roles.
- Work history: include all jobs and internships, detailing responsibilities, tasks, and skills developed.
Awards and Recognition
Scholarships are formally acknowledged at the National Collegiate Landscape Competition, though recipients do not have to be present at NCLC to receive their award.
General Foundation Scholarships
- President’s Scholarship — $5,000
- Platinum Ambassador Scholarships — $2,000+ each
- Ambassador Scholarships — $1,000+ each
NCLC Placement Scholarships (for top finishers)
- First Place — $3,000
- Second Place — $2,000
- Third Place — $1,000
