Vermont Student Assistance Corporation Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Vermont Student Assistance Corporation
VSAC manages more than 150 scholarships (unless a specific award states otherwise, they are for Vermont residents). If you plan to enroll in college or training in 2026–2027, note that the deadline for VSAC-administered scholarships is February 11, 2026.

Key timeline and checklist (beginning October 1, 2025)
Starting October 1, 2025, you should:
- Read the scholarship descriptions in the Scholarships & Forgivable Loans booklet and determine which awards you fully qualify for.
- Submit the Unified Scholarship Application (USA) online via MyVSAC.
- Begin drafting required essays; get feedback from your guidance counselor. (See VSAC tips for writing admissions essays.)
- Decide who will write your letters of recommendation, inform them of your strengths, and follow guidance on requesting strong recommendation letters.
- Start gathering and submitting required materials (transcripts, essays, recommendation letters, etc.).
- Monitor the progress and status of your scholarship applications in MyVSAC.
Submit a FAFSA now
- Completing the FAFSA is an important step in the financial aid process.
Application/postmark deadline: on or before February 11, 2026
- All required documents (transcripts, essays, recommendation letters, etc.) must be submitted or postmarked by February 11, 2026.
- If you are applying for a forgivable loan, you are encouraged to apply by this deadline; forgivable loan applications received after the deadline may be considered if funds remain available.
After the VSAC-assisted scholarship deadline
- Once the VSAC-assisted scholarship deadline has passed, you can still pursue awards that are administered by other organizations. Check the "Other Scholarships" section of the Scholarships & Forgivable Loans booklet for additional deadlines (some remain open through July).
