Council 2 Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Washington State Council of County & City Employees
Introduction
The Washington State Council of County & City Employees (WSCCCE / Council 2) awards a set of scholarships each year. Each scholarship application contains the specific rules and instructions applicants must follow to be considered. Note: the “Statement of Required Facts” is used only by Council 2 to verify eligibility and is not provided to the Scholarship Committee.
Eligibility
These awards are open to high school seniors and college undergraduate students who are dependents of, or under the legal guardianship of, a local union member in good standing with WSCCCE (including qualifying non-association members in good standing).
Scholarship awards available
- One annual $5,000 award paid each year for four years (total $20,000) to a qualifying dependent or ward of a WSCCCE local union member.
- Six scholarships of $5,000 each to qualifying dependents or wards of WSCCCE local union members.
- Six scholarships of $2,000 each to qualifying dependents or wards of WSCCCE local union members.
- Ten additional awards of $2,000 each to qualifying dependents or wards of WSCCCE local union members — these ten awards represent donor-contributed scholarship funds.
Application, transcripts and deadline
All application materials and the official transcript must be completed and postmarked no later than March 15. Any application or transcript postmarked after March 15 will be disqualified. See the “Note” on the final page of each application for information about whether any extra materials you submit will be forwarded to the Scholarship Committee for their consideration.
Selection and notification
The Scholarship Committee will make its selections prior to June. Applicants—both recipients and those not selected—will be notified by mail.
Naming of scholarships and donations
Per direction of the Council 2 Executive Board, scholarships may be named in honor or memory of individuals who made significant contributions to the union or as memorials for dependents/family of active Council 2 members. Names will be added over time; contributions toward naming or memorial scholarships are welcome. To contribute or for more information, email c2everett@council2.com.
